Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

1. Who we are

AIEchoLang is developed and operated by an independent developer (the "Controller", "we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we handle information in connection with the AIEchoLang iOS app and the echolang.io website. If you have questions, write to support@echolang.io.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers the AIEchoLang mobile application and the echolang.io website (together, the "Service"). It does not cover third-party apps, websites, or payment providers you may reach through links from the Service.

3. Data we do NOT collect

When the translation and voice models are installed, Whisper and TranslateGemma run on this iPhone or iPad. Your speech and messages stay on the device and are not uploaded to our servers, stored in our cloud, or seen by us. The app requires no account. We do not collect your name, email, or precise location, and we do not send your speech or text to Google Gemini, OpenAI, or other third-party generative AI services.

4. Data that may be processed

On the device, the app uses microphone audio only while you hold to speak, transcribed phrases, optional context you type, and language settings. Downloading model weight files from echolang.io and, as a fallback, Hugging Face, Inc. may generate standard technical logs (IP address, app version); those requests do not include your speech or messages. Visiting echolang.io may generate basic web server logs (IP, browser type, pages viewed) used only for security and reliability. If you write to support@echolang.io, we receive your email and the content of your message, used only to answer you. If on-device models are not installed yet, Apple Speech Recognition may receive microphone audio and Apple Translation may receive transcribed text so the app can still function. That is app functionality, not tracking. Apple provides the same or equal protection under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies and local storage

The website stores a language preference in local storage (echolang-lang). We also use Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-TW4Q1WRTNJ) to understand aggregate traffic on echolang.io. Google may set cookies or use similar identifiers as described in Google’s privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We do not use advertising cookies. App conversations remain on-device and are never sent to Google Analytics.

6. Third parties

We rely on Apple Inc. (App Store; and, if on-device models are missing, Apple Speech Recognition and Apple Translation); echolang.io and Hugging Face, Inc. for model-file downloads only — Hugging Face is not used as a generative AI API for your conversation; Google Fonts for website typefaces; and Google Analytics for aggregate website traffic as described above. Except for Apple’s speech and translation frameworks in that fallback case, none of them receive your conversations. We do not send your speech or text to Google Gemini or OpenAI.

7. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has contacted us by email, please tell us at support@echolang.io and we will delete the message.

8. Data retention

Conversations never reach our servers, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on that front — they exist only on your device, for as long as you choose to keep them there. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted. Any basic web server logs are kept briefly for security purposes and then rotated out.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. Since we hold very little data about you — mainly what you send us directly by email — the simplest way to exercise these rights is to write to support@echolang.io; we respond personally to every request.

10. International data transfers

Any data we do process, such as support emails or web server logs, may be handled by service providers located in different countries, including outside your own. We take reasonable steps to work only with providers offering an adequate level of protection.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or website evolves. The current version is always published on this page, and the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review it occasionally.
